The subtext on this statement has been apparent for years, but it’s great to finally hear Yellow say it out loud.

She blames herself for Pink’s death. Yellow was responsible for Pink Diamond and she failed her. 

When you think about it, the truth is even more tragic than Yellow is imagining. Yellow’s mistakes didn’t lead Pink to her death, they drove her away. She made Pink feel powerless to protect the things she loved. She gave Pink no other choice but to fight for the earth in secret. She made Pink feel like she wouldn’t be missed if she were gone.

And then Yellow personally destroyed almost everything Pink cared about without even realizing it.

I’m sure the Diamonds are going to have a moment of happiness once they realize that Pink is still alive (after a fashion) but coming to grips with the DEPTHS to which they failed as parents is going to be a long hard road.
