All joking aside, I would just like to point out that Rose didn’t just make a shield and pull Garnet and Pearl behind it, she put her own body between them and the shield.
Just think: it’s likely that this is the greatest attack her shield has ever faced, and she has no idea how–or if–it will hold, but it’s all she has. Imagine that she doesn’t know what exactly is coming, but it’s definitely a combined attack from the three remaining Diamonds. She grabs her friends and holds them close, just in case her shield fails. If worst comes to worst, they’ll at least die in the comfort and security of her embrace.
