Pink Diamond’s story was foreshadowed in the first episode
Okay so I was rewatching the first episode of the first season, “Gem Glow”, and the song Steven sings about Cookie Cat caught my attention.
First of all, here are the lyrics:
“Oh, he’s a frozen treat with an all new taste
Cause he came to this planet from outer space
A refugee of an interstellar war
But now he’s at your local grocery store
Cookie Cat
He’s a pet for your tummy
Cookie Cat
He’s super duper yummy
Cookie Cat
He left his family behind
Cookie Caaat!”
Let’s pick this apart. The first line says “an all new taste”. This could be referencing how Pink Diamond changed her form and in a way, was an all new person.
“came to this planet from outer space” speaks for itself.
“a refugee of an interstellar war” could be talking about how she was at war with her fellow diamonds and with her own status and that she just wanted to escape.
“he’s a pet for your tummy” might be a bit of a reach, but Pink Diamond’s gem IS on Steven’s tummy…
“he left his family behind” is what makes me think that Cookie Cat is supposed to represent Pink Diamond/Rose the most. She left Blue, Yellow, and White behind. Her fellow diamonds. Her family.
